The Washington Space Grant Team is sharing some difficult news that we are unfortunately canceling our Summer Undergraduate Research Program for summer 2025. Due to funding process delays on federal grants nationwide, Washington Space Grant will not be able to secure funding in time for the SURP 2025 program. This is a heart-breaking decision for us as we were greatly looking forward to supporting the many qualified students who applied.
This decision was not made lightly, and we cannot thank the students enough for the time and effort spent on their applications. We’d like to particularly thank our faculty and graduate mentors who were ready to guide students in this experience. SURP is a program that many students rely on to gain entry research experience and we plan to resume SURP in summer 2026. At this time, programming starting fall 2025 is expected to proceed as normal. The Washington Space Grant team will be here as a resource for anyone directly impacted by this decision.
